The Day Skipper Theory shorebased intensive course is taught in a classroom and is a comprehensive introduction to chartwork, navigation, meteorology and the basics of seamanship. You will find this course invaluable if you want to learn how to start making decisions on board, and if you are considering taking the Day Skipper practical course.

The course fee includes free acccess to the excellent RYA Essential Navigation & Seamanship on-line home study primer course. Students who take this primer course significantly increase the likelihood of passing the RYA Day Skipper intensive shorebased course.

Anglia Sea Ventures offer the Day Skipper classroom course in an intensive 5-day format which is run either Monday to Friday or over two long weekends. This course is intensive and fast paced compared to evening classes or home study, and is therefore aimed at more experienced sailors and fast learners. If you do not have any sailing or navigational experience then you really must complete the complimentary on-line RYA Essential Navigation & Seamanship course first. Enrolment details for the complimentary course will be sent to you when booking the Day Skipper course.

When you have successfully completed the Day Skipper course, which includes two assessment papers, you will receive a Day Skipper theory shore based course completion certificate. Students that take the Essential Navigation & Seamanship primer course in conjunction with this course will not receive a course completion certificate for that course. If you have enjoyed your Day Skipper course then you should consider enrolling on an RYA Day Skipper Practical course or RYA/MCA Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster Offshore shorebased course.
