Day Sails offer a comprehensive hands-on sailing experience for enthusiastic sailors and novices alike. They are specifically geared towards all abilities and everyone is encouraged to helm and handle the sails.

The exact itinerary will depend on weather conditions and tides on the day but expect to join the yacht at 09:30 for a safety briefing then we will head out for a day sail. We may drop anchor off the coast for a light lunch or eat underway, returning to Ipswich by 16:30.

You will be involved in all aspects of sailing the yacht including helming sail trimming and ropework, or if you prefer you can sit back and enjoy the ride. Photographs will be taken throughout the day and can be downloaded free of charge from our website after your sail.

Lots of fun and great company!

To ensure full participation by all, you will share your experience with a maximum of 4 other guests per trip plus 2 crew. It is not possible to accommodate spectators.

What to wear

Non-marking soft soled shoes (non black) or sailing boots (sorry but Wellington or garden boots are not suitable). A hat or cap. It can get chilly out on the water so several layers of clothing are best rather than fewer thick layers.

Where to stay

If you need local hotel accommodation during your course or sail we have negotiated discounted rates at the luxurious 3 star Novotel Hotel. The hotel is adjacent to the marina and is a 2 minute drive or 5 minute walk from our offices. Ask for the Anglia Sea Ventures rate when booking.

Other things you should know

If this event has to be cancelled due to adverse weather conditions, you will be offered an alternative date. We recommend you take out holiday insurance to cover unforeseen circumstances, for example, having to cancel your activity at a late date. Boating requires a degree of physical exertion so if you have any doubts concerning your fitness please make us aware. Please consult your pharmacist or doctor if you require seasickness medication. Sorry but spectators cannot be accommodated. For your safety and enjoyment, Anglia Sea Ventures guarantee your skipper will be a Commercial RYA sailing instructor ensuring you receive professional tuition and safety instructions. Always check this before choosing a sailing operator.
